Awards (for photography):
• Indiana Arts Commission 2008 Individual Artist Program grant. Comments from the jury: "What intrigues me are two very specific things about the imagery. One, his color palette is very good, obviously from years of being a painter he has a beautiful sense of color. He also has the ability to do something I fight with all the time, is finding, somehow, a level of calm in chaos, as far as some of his number of shots of trees is keeping detail everywhere but when you look at them you are very calmed by them. His composition is good, his placement of the thing that he wants you to look at is good, and again knowing he is doing this with a point and shoot I am quite impressed…"
Exhibits (photography): Richard has exhibited his photographic prints in one-person and group shows in Bloomington, Indiana, including at the John Waldron Arts Center in May of 2007. Thanks to the generous support of Michael Cassady, his work is showing on a semi-permanent basis in the back room of the Uptown Cafe in downtown Bloomington.
